I thought I'd point you in a direction of an article in this month's edition of PCPRO magazine (July 2020, Issue 309); pp.42-45.
It describes setting up a Rasperry Pi (and which Raspberry Pi) what you need and don't need, etc. and setting it up for FlightRadar24 and FlightAware (running both at the same time).
Now this is done from the Creation and setting up aspect, NOT with any knowledge of Aviation or Radio Reception, of which the writer is obviously either unaware or simplifying the article.
For example, none of you will be surprised at the information regarding the aviation side, but the radio antenna bit is obvious to anyone that's had a CB in the past (that'll be me then!). The antenna used is very basic, but the bigger and the higher you go, the better!
Although you may already be able to get the details of the B777 flying over from Seattle to CDG (remember those days?), I know that here in sunny West Bedfordshire (today) anything below approx, 2500ft doesn't respond. This will be because it's out of the line of sight of whatever antennas cover the upper altitudes. Something to do with the Chilterns, probably!
Hence fill-in ones give the additional information.
An added benefit is, of course, that if you feed into FR24 and FA, you get the top level subscription free. You'll get your kit payment back in a very short while, that way.
The only one I'm not sure about is ADS-B exchange, and whether it likes cohabiting with the other two on a Raspberry Pi!
Just thought you might like to know.
