PRECIOUS METAL Designated (by the owner?) as a P-51XR, the photos show the Griffon engined, contra rotating propellor Mustang Precious Metal (N6WJ) engine installation and in action. The paint scheme at the time was emerald green wings and plain polished fuselage, rather than the fancier graphics scheme on the Reno video last night.
DAGO RED Another racing Mustang, still Merlin powered, with a race history including a record speed of 517.3mph on a 15km course held since 1993.
As Chris said, the engine sound, and resonance close to a ground run, need experiencing!
